Phytoplankton culture has pods?

I removed a phytoplankton culture from its glass container and bottled half. After cleaning and sterilizing the container I put the remaining in the glass container and topped off with saltwater. This morning I noticed a good amount of copepods in the glass container. Is this good or bad?
