How will they fair long term without any sand?

you will have to give them something that they can use as a cave. Mine borrows in the sand under the rocks all the time.

Their is plenty cave room. If you knew what all the tank has been through lately, to have survived it, means to me that the shrimp will be just fine with bare bottom tank.

They do better with sand. Without sand they will be stressed 90% of all they do is dig. The other 10% is eating haha.

I cant see it, only hear, so I have no idea what kind of condition its in. I can only assume that since I can hear it, which it has been many months since I have, it is doing just fine.
