Good morning. I’ve had my bamboo catshark for about 8 months and he’s been great. Last 3 days he hasn’t eaten and is breathing very hard, while uncontrollably wiggling body in swim motion. All of my other fish are doing great. I’ve picked the shark up and checked for goiter, nothing. No spots or signs of disease. I don’t know what to do and fear the worst. See video attached. Thank you.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

While sharks are resistant to many fish parasites, they can get Amyloodinium/velvet as well as bacterial gill diseases and some flukes. They are also prone to water quality problems. What we need to do is rule out what we can:

What other fish are in with the shark? No symptoms with them at all?
What are the water quality values? Specifically, ammonia, pH and salinity.

Thanks,

Jay

High nitrate and filter and skimmer issue will always weaken them also. I believe high Mag also has an impact on them
