Please help, decision on lighting; how many Radion do I need

My tank is 36”x24”x20” (depth), SPS dominants; should I go for 3 (or 2) x Radion XR15W or 2 x XR30W?

I would start with 2 XR15s. You can add a 3rd in the future if needed or some t5s.

on that style tank your kinda gonna want the 4 pucks xr30 's sideways in the long run , thats a tough footprint to blanket without going overkill.

If you're doing a typical aquascape that has a stack of rocks in the center of the tank with your SPS on top then two XR30 is what I would run. If you want any play and want to budget for long term success (you bank on your tank reaching colony age) then I would look at 2 XR30 and 2 XR15 to overcome shadowing that you WILL encounter as your tank matures.

One other thing to think about, lots of new players in the game as far as lighting goes and you have new units on the horizon from AI and Ecotech. Start with just 2 XR15 to kick off your frag growth and then invest the real money in G5 or any other new exciting brand/model coming out in 2020; the XR15 won't be a waste because their size and footprint are efficient and you will still use them to fill in gaps in coverage as your tank grows.

That's my long, complicated way of looking at it. :)
