I had 2 labs, about a month and a half ago one had to be put down. I loved him like a brother. His name was dakota and I still cry thinking about him. Max is my younger lab who does not act his age. Hes almost 10 but acts like hes a pup with his energy and he still nurses on a blanket. Well it turns out max has bone cancer in one of his legs. We find out soon if it has spread or not to his torso. If it hasn't then his leg will be amputated. I ask that you please pray for him so I dont lose another best friend :( here are some pictures of him 1372956172102.jpg 1372956189346.jpg 1372956236734.jpg 1372956286432.jpg

I'm sorry to hear! We lost our dog about 3 months ago, we had her for about 14 years. Losing an animal is tough. I wish you and your lab the best.

Thankyou and yeah it sucks. Dakota was almost 13 so he lived a good life but I am hoping max can have a few more great years

My best best best friend ever was my basset Hound "walter" I had 12 great years with him. I cried like I never did before when I lost him to 5 years ago. Till this day when I see a bassett Hound I get so sad. I wish you the best of luck with him. Spend everyday minute you can with him and just enjoy it austin. Hes a cutie.

We had to put down our rottie Ranger after only five years. It was one of the saddest days of my life. I loved that dog. Still think about him. We have had our current dog(black golden doodle) six years now and I still mess up and call her Ranger every once in a while. I still tear up every now and then thinking about him. He was my 135 pound bull dozer.

Good luck and hopefully you get good news.

Thankyoy and that's so sad. I think the same thing whenever I see a blonde lab. That's what dakota was

I love rotties, never had one but they are just big teddy bears. That's tragic to lose him in 5 years... I am grateful to have had max for this long but I know he's got plenty more to live, just needs a little help

I love my pup, I can't imagine what you're going through. Good vibes coming your way buddy...

I had to put my golden down about a month ago from cancer. He fought it for quite awhile and I believe he did it more for my wife and I then for himself. Dogs are special and have an unmatched loyalty. I wish you and your dog the best. I'm sure he's got some fight left in him that'll surprise you. Here's something I found online. I really liked it and I thought I'd share it here:

I love it. Just made me cry a little just because all of it is so true. Thankyou for sharing that

I know exactly how you feel and I am so sorry. He looks exactly like my Zena did. I lost her 3 years ago and will not ever get another lab. Loosing a beloved dog is almost like loosing a child.

Very true Wendy. I think of my dogs as family member not just a pet.

I'll make sure to pray for you both. I lost a dog almost a year ago. Dogs are more than just pets, they're not like family either, they are family. Its amazes me that they would willing give their life for us and they love us more than anything but they will go to their grave without ever knowing our name. My dog, jiggs, is honestly my best friend. If anything was to happen to her I don't know if I could carry on. She's been with me through multiple surgeries and losses. She is always there for me and sleeps right next to my bed every night.

Will definitely say a prayer. What a tough thing to go through, our dogs are truly family. We lost our catahoula leopard to cancer just over a year ago now, she was my best friend and I miss her dearly still. My heart goes out to you, keep us posted.

Thankyou everyone. Your prayers have worked. The bone cancer has not spread into his lungs so he will be going in for the amputation sometime this week. Please keep the prayers coming though for a safe and quick recovery and also that the bone cancer does not show up somewhere else which happens. Thanks again for everybodys support. My family, especially max, greatly appreciates it :)

Yesterday I lost my feline companion of 20rs. I'd been preparing myself. I'd hoped she'd eventually pass in her sleep. I'd even built a kitty casket for that possibility. Having to drive like a lunatic on a Sunday night desperately trying to find a veterinarian to put her to sleep made for a most traumatic exit. She was in so much pain and I could only drive so fast. Twas a brutal evening.
I know what it's like. Best wishes and continued good luck!!

Praying for you and Max. I worked as a tech for a few years and saw many many amputations and bone cancers. He has a rough road but he is lucky to have a friend like you to help him down whatever difficult path life has in his future.
