I recently did a post earlier where I tried to discuss my algae problem. I was told it wasn’t that descriptive, which I understand. Anyway, my tank is about 6 months old, and I use Ro/DI water with fritz rpm. It’s a fluval evo 13.5 gallon. I want to have this be algae free. Here are my parameters.

Nitrate: 5 ppm

nitrite and ammonia: 0 ppm

Alkalinity: 210

Ph: 7.1

lighting period: around 9 hours.

here’s a picture... any help would be great.

I'd recheck your parameters: your alkalinity and pH are very much off and probably inaccurate.

It doesn't look like you have coral. I'd just turn off the lights for a week. You can have the moonlights on for a few hours each day.

I'd also aim your left return nozzle lower so you can get better tank circulation.

I do not see any picture but your Ph is extemely low or an error in your testing i would guess. What test kits are you using? Do you have a clean up crew...snails and hermits? They will keep your algae in check if its not extremely long hair algae. If you have a pretty bad case of algae you would need to pull it out by hand to help get it started so the snails and hermits can do there job. Is your rodi water testing Zero TDS? Your alkalinity of 11.8 dkh seems on the high side.. Can you get your water tested at a LFS and compare yours with there results. You dont mention your salinity, temp, calcium.

When your water is correct, you'll get coralline algae, the pink/purple stuff, on the rocks that will inhibit green algae.

I’ll redo a test on the alk and get back to you guys. I’m also going to try turning off my lights for Easter weekend.

some things I left out:

salinity: 1.024

temp: 77-78

Looks like green cyano so not actually algae(assuming i am correct).. If ph is 8.1 then alk and ph seem fine.
+1 that’s what it looks like to me.
