I've had a pair of clowns for at least three years today the female rapidly swam around hitting everything and now is laying down on the ground like she is dead I have no clue what happened to her or why she did this

I'm sorry about your fish. I lost one of my clownfish last week for no apparent reason.

Sorry about your clown. And It doesn't matter as long as it is another ocellaris and like they said smaller. Your male will turn female and they'll be fine.

Just to be sure her passing wasn't disease related ... Have you introduced any new livestock into your tank recently? If so, was it QT'd?

Did the deceased or does the surviving clown have any white spots/smudges on the skin? I'm sorry for your loss.
