Yesterday I went into a LFS in San Francisco and found this gem. Not only is it pretty to look at, it is huge. Roughly the size of you entire hand. Well I am having touble identifying this so I hope you folks can assist me. Anyways enjoy the photo and let me know any info on this piece. Thanks in advanced.

Will be tough to ID it with buying it from a LFS. My guess is it is a wild colony, so there is no "name" for it. It is a nice looking piece, no need for a name unless you want to come up with one on your own. Saying it looks like Miami Hurricane would not be the best way to market it (if you intend to sell it down the road). I say be happy with your purchase and don't worry too much about the name!

For what it's worth, I would say it doesn't look much like the Miami Hurricane.

I totally agree with you, far from a MH. It must be a wild colony too it had no name. I want to name it but can't think of a name at the moment...

Looks more like Raspberry monster aka Cotton Candy than MH. Either way, it's fresh off the boat so it's yet to be chopped and named. Sweet piece though.

I'd agree with Cotton Candy rather than MH chalice. It really should color up well once it settles in.

How about the green lava chalice? Whatever it is, it looks very nice.
