I bought this guy today. The man at the lfs said it was a leather toadstool mushroom coral, I paid $120 for him. Very shortly after buying him I noticed his mouth and later learned that he's some type of anemone. I'm thinking maybe a green carpet anemone, but I definitely need your help. He's about 5-7 inches. I also would like to know if what I paid for him is way too much and if I should take him back being that my tank has only been set up for 2 months and that I know nothing about anemones. Also any info on him would be great. Thank you so much.

Any update? I hope the LFS took the return given that they sold you a carpet anemone, NOT a toadstool. The mouth in the pics doesn't look great either.

I can't tell... do you have any more pictures lol

Looks like a carpet, and it isn't the easiest to care for. Needs a few inches of sand and it will catch and kill any fish that wanders too close. I suggest taking it back do some research and if you do want one then get it later.

What kind of lights do you have?
I would say take it back and do not go to that store again. IF they can't tell the difference between a leather and a carpet anemone they don't deserve your business. As for the price it is way high for a toadstool leather and still high but not as ridiculous for the anemone that it is.
