I am working on putting together a budget 125-gallon build. Here is the list of equipment that I am planning to use. Please provide your critique or suggestions for better and more cost-effective components. I'd like to avoid costly mistakes and your expert input is greatly appreciated.

- 125-gallon tank (72x18x24) with dual corner overflows (bottom drilled) - I have this tank and will convert it from freshwater to a mixed reef (90% LPS/softies and 10% hardy SPS)

- Trigger Ruby 30 sump (purchased this sump as an open box from BRS)

- AquaMax Cones CO-1 (https://rb.gy/865e4l) - purchased used from R2R member. This skimmer will be placed in the first section

- IceCap Algae scrubber Pro (small 14 watts) placed in a middle section of the sump (https://rb.gy/nhb4k5)

- 2 x 1050GPH Orlushy return pumps from Amazon (https://a.co/d/0jFNR1o)

- 2 x Hydor wavemaker with a basic controller on one side (https://rb.gy/7dt57l). I own two Koralia pumps and I would like to repurpose it by using the controller to be able to alternate the flow

- Red Sea gyre on the other side (https://rb.gy/reuxez). I bought used from CL

- Tunze 3155 ATO (purchased open box from BRS)

- I am planning to buy 3 (or 4? need your input) Noops or 3 x A8se (need your input)

- I will repurpose two titanium heaters connected through the InkBird controller

- I will need to install 1/3 HP cooler (BAOSHISHAN new from Amazon or JBJ if I can find a used one)

- Jebao wifi doser (or Kamoer F1) from Amazon

looks fine, although I’d suggest skip the wave controller, the Red Sea Gyres don’t need and can sync between them

Return pumps, If I got no other credentials than longevity: Do not buy cheap return pumps

I’d skip the Ice Cap ATS just bas3d on reviews but can’t say the Tunze macro scrubber is much better, …

Form or function: Do you consider your rock work to be art or the platform for your coral?
