An observation tank, as mentioned by christinna, is a great idea. I kept mine in observation for a couple months getting used to the food and me. They then start to develop that puppy dog behavior and follow you around. They are much more confident to go into the DT.

Sorry one of them didn't make it. From my experience, these fish are easily outcompeted by others, especially in the beginning, and they can go on hunger strikes too.

I really prefer to put them in at least an observation tank first, so they can get used to me, the feeding tube and the food itself, before any other fish are around to steal it from them.

Hope yours starts coming out more and eating more aggressively!
So far, he is doing quite nicely. It's hard to know if he's getting enough food because I'm not always there to see the feeding, but he looks very healthy and happy. He's not that shy, and i love seeing his glowing eyes. It's a beautiful fish.
