In plumbing a tank if I have two drains going into a sump with a slight 1-2” angle up before entering the sump how big of a problem is this?

The sump is next to the tank (not directly under the tank). The sump is tall and there just isn’t enough clearance space for the pipes to drain directly into the sump. The drain pipes would need to be plumbed in such a way so as they come down they have to make a 1 to 2” angle upward to be able to clear the sump. Gravity should still allow the water to clear but the going upward any degree worries me.

The drains are 1.5” btw.

Horizontal drain lines that slope upward in the direction water is flowing have to potential issues. First is pretty ovious is it will cause additional resistance to flow or back pressure and slow down the speed which might allow detritus to collect in the low spot causing additional restriction to water flow. Second is a good chance it will create a "flushing" effect where he water backs up some and when enough builds up it flushes through which is likely to be very noisy. Is there an actual risk of water backing up and causing a flood? Probably not, but that is something you'll have to evaluate yourself. (FWIW, I wouldn't leave it like that.)

yeah that’s what I was afraid of. Time to go back to drawing board. Need to do it correctly.
