Hi I’m currently in the process of plumbing my 40 gallon breeder and I had a question about my over flow. I bought unions one side thread and one side slip and I figured I could thread one side onto my overflow but figured out quickly that the unions were too small.. can I just cement the pipe into the overflow ?

Assuming those are going to be dual drains, you don’t need to glue the pipes that are inside the overflow box. They can just be dry fit. The pipes below the box attached to your bulkhead get glued.
