I’m looking to drop a return pump in my RODI holding tank in the basement so I fill my ATO reservoir 1 floor up by turning on pump via smart outlet.
I’m looking for some help with fittings.
The pump has a 3/4” adapter which I was thinking if they make a reducer that I can go from that to a 1/4” push fit for RODI tubing.
I would run the RODI tubing roughly 20’ between floor joists which then would pass through a small hole and connect through the reservoir via push fit bulkhead.
All would happen with me there and nothing automated.
Let me know if anyone has done this and has advice.

DC motors are not what you want for pumping up hill. Reducing to 1/4 inch is going to greatly increase the pressure you need the pump to produce to push water uphill through that tiny hole.

I have not done this, but you have asked a great question. Let's see if anyone has done this. Just don't buy that pump yet!

I have this Jebao DC pump hooked up to my mixing station which transfers saltwater from basement in a 5/8” thick python hose the exact route with no issues.
I’m open to all feedback though.

I would recommend a peristaltic pump. No need to worry about running dry and many can operate under very high head pressure. The Milwaukee Doser has 50ft of head pressure and should fit the bill. Nothing to do with DC motors, but everything to do with the pump. The pressure drop into 1/4 tubing is huge, and if you want any capacity you need a pressure pump.

Look for a pressure / diaphragm pump. They're lower flow, very noisy, but will push 50+PSI which you need to get fluid up through tiny tubing with a lot of head loss. They also all feature a pressure switch so they don't run if there is no flow.

And this is the other approach. Much quieter, slower, but also can push a lot of pressure. Take your choice, but a centrifugal pump over lots of head loss is not going to work.

Hmm - i sort of do something similar (but in my case its pumping out waste water as i am below ground) but the 1/4 inch plumbing is a major killer …

I would not recommend doing it for long duty cycles - your pump will die…

Get a dosing pump, they can push pull that kind of distance - if you need one that can really move a fair amount of water the hydros soles can def move 300ml/m
