Setting up my mixing station. Before I glue the rest down I want to make sure this checks out. Otherwise what should I modify. I read a few posts where folks said a pipe should be added all the way down to ensure the water is mixing down at the bottom. So I did it. Also added some pipe coming from the bulkhead facing downwards with the thought that it would help siphon water as close to the bottom of the tank as possible. Pump and other storage tank come in tomorrow! IMG_6226.jpeg IMG_6225.jpeg

Plumbing looks to be correct. However, because details matter, I am somewhat confused with the word siphon water. I assume that the bottom bulkhead is the input to the mixing pump, where hydrostatic pressure is available to push water into pump suction, not a syphon.

PS: I see this is your first post. Welcome to r2r.

with the bulkhead being a couple inches up from the bottom I figured there may be some water that wouldn’t be gravity fed through. I’m terrible at explaining things.. and thanks!

True. However, not all pumps can suck. Many require hydrostatic pressure at input. Depends on your pump, thus the term “prime the pump”. As an engineer that writes technical reports, details matter.

DO YOU THINK TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS ARE MORE HELPFUL OR HURTFUL TO REEFING?
