Pocillopora Coloration

The color has gone from a darker green to a really bright yellow. Is this normal? My water parameters are
Ph 8.2
Nitrites 0.01
Nitrates 2
Amonia 0
Alk 10.1
Mag 1320
Ca 455

Looks to be bleaching. Turning lighter is usually never good.
Have you changed your lighting, raised alk, or is it a fairly new piece?

Had an issue with alk a couple of weeks ago, went down to 6 but i was able to get it stable again, wasnt dosing enough.

May I ask , what is the name of the coral? Is that what it "should" look like ?
Any change in lighting?

How long has it been in the tank?

It's a maricultured specimen I have to assume.

And man I'd kill for that. It's pretty.

All i know is what the tag said when i got it “pocillopora”, i’ve had it since may 27. The first pic is may 29 the second one sept 20. And the last is today, its been like that for a week now.

Yea I can't find those here. Prob a Caribbean species.
If it was a rapid change in color then yea there's a problem.
I don't know that a steady slow drop in alk would do that.

Any new coral?

Haven’t added anything, been growing really good, really good polyp extension at the moment, the only difference is the color now. I did recently add a skimmer to my tank.

Pocis can definitely change their color, depending on lighting. I have one that started out pink and is now almost purple. I personally don't think it's bleached because it doesn't otherwise look stressed at all.

Also havent moved it from that position, like i said it looks the same just that big difference in color.

It’s doing fine except it never got that dsrker green back, it’s lime color now

My second acro ever was as long as my hand, so I split it. It spent a year 2” from the other half. One was dark and the other light. Never changed. Three + years later , still the same.

Weird how that works.

If you change spectrum and intensity you may see some changes.
But grow that baby out first.

Yeah, didnt change my intensity nor spektrum, it actually spread onto the rock behind it
