I got a new pocilopora colony from a buddy a week ago. It had been healthy for quite a few days but in last 2-3 days it seems to be loosing polyps and I find a branch of it completely melted away and then today another one.

Sorry for the photo quality.
All Param are within range

alk- 8.0
Nitrate - 12.2
Phosphate - .03
Ca 409
Mg 1232

lights - 2 ai running . My other acros have polyp extension and are doing fine. Softies on the floor are fine too.

Is that a metallic green one?
They are super hard to kill and when they are growing great, they spawn all over and super hard to get rid of. Many consider them a pest. Like me. I had one, well, still have 1 spawn of one that is growing that needs to be killed.

It looks like the tips are healthy. Are you talking about the white area in the middle of the colony? That’s the way mine looks and it’s super healthy and needs pruning regularly. My guess is that you should just leave it alone for now. They can take low or high light, low or high flow, and a lot of abuse!

Ok will observe and post if another event happens. I have had 2 sub-branches almost melted away over night (from top to bottom).

If you notice first picture the one facing towards the camera is devoid of all polyps.

Yes i was told about its reputation - so its in my secondary tank (i have 3 tanks connected to same sump system circulating water).

Despite their hardiness I had this happen to me. Do you happen to know parameters of tank where they came from? Let’s say that tank alk was 10dkh. And yours is 8. That is a huge drop which can cause this. And this doesn’t happen in a day but delayed over couple weeks. Even hardiest SPS (monti, poccilipora) do not like alk swings Just my guess

And I wouldn't be surprised at-all - i run ZeoVit system and try to keep parameters low - and suppliment the nutirents by dosing 100000000 bottles.

Should i just let it adjust ? Will that help ?

It much you can do but letting it adjust. However I would cut out dead branches. I believe a better chance of recovery since soon algae will start growing on the dead branches and may cause further creep of losing flesh. I cut down to where there is good tissue. Keep things stable and hope no further progress. Although no guarantee
