More rock than I intended but I think I like this.. may add some small islands once in the tank..
I’m liking the aquascape!

While waiting for the replacement return pump and Mp40 I hooked up a 400gph hygger pump to just circulate water in the mean time. Got the ATO connected as well but am wondering if my water level is right? Never had a tank with a sump before but seems like the reefmats sensor is too far from the water line. But if I raise my water level enough to get it within an inch the sump would be overfilled am I correct?

Finally got it cycling, dosed to 2ppm with Ammonia Chloride, transferred over some cycled media and added some Fritz turbo start.. decided to take some par readings with the AB+ Radion template.. 😎

Got the Vectra M2 hooked up and running finally off the 400gph utility pump. Also plugged in the Bubble magus curve 7 elite gotta get that broken in and tuned… finally 100% underway. Will likely add some more fish in a few weeks or so.. was thinking of adding another firefish before I add the wrasses.. but will see. Might scrap the idea of a fox face in here and just stay with the yellow tang and a tomini, don’t want it to get to crowded but still want enough life to the tank..

First sign of Diatoms, “ugly phase” is coming on. Need to get my skimmer dialed in so I’ll stop getting a bunch of micro bubbles in my display.. going to seed the tank with Pods in the next couple weeks and add Cuc as well, there’s a single Halloween hermit in there for now... will update as it progresses.

Very nice build! Diatoms are self limiting, once they have consumed all the silicates they will go away. If you want to speed up the process you can start adding copepods, they will eat them and now is an excellent time to start your pod population.

Thanks man I appreciate it, that’s the plan. The pods weren’t available to ship until like mid Jan. With the holidays so it will still be a few weeks but still. Plan on getting them established and dosing Live phyto

Hey all!

Been taking some time today to try and plan out the grand scheme of coral placement in this tank… I know about what I want to have ultimately but as far as coexisting I am unsure.. I’ve slapped together this plot of areas I think could potentially work.. Don’t plan on having a ton of euphyllia but if I do I lean towards flowerpots maybe a torch or two and a possible frogspawn if I can.. wanted a pectinia but considering the space needed for it I don’t think I will.. sand bed is planned to have a bounce mushroom at some point.. trachys scolys cynarina Zoa garden on an island in the middle between the two.. wanting to see if someone with more experience has some input on my proposed placement? Any tips?

So I did a thing… 😬 broke down my 15g nano placed all livestock into this tank including the 2 clowns that have questionable tempers, placed all the rock into my sump and rinsed the old sand with tank water and then carefully lowered it into my sand bed… all is well so far. Main reason being for doing this is I just got a 25g AIO peninsula tank and I don’t really want to run 3 tanks at the moment, plus I get to scavenge the versa pump and reservoir off it to complete that build once the stand for that arrives but I digress, thinking of adding a small Nero 3 into the skimmer section of my sump to add some circulation and surface agitation as it seems a slight film may be developing. Finally setup the DoS last night to prepare for more coral on the 16th I’ll have more livestock added. Been dosing Microbacter 7 to help things out.. awaiting the next algae outbreak as I feel the “ugly stage” was very short lived and not as bad as I expected for this tank.. my starry blenny put some work in though I can tell you that. Rocks and sand went from brown to clean in like 2 days.. next update will likely be on Jan. 16th with the arrival of some fish and more coral. See ya’ll then!

I’ll post another once it goes white mid day. Switched lighting from AB+ template to the Radiant template

Love the trachy! Was the roller mat difficult to install?
Thanks man, it’s definitely one of my favorites. When I saw it I immediately knew I needed it haha.. the roller mat tho wasn’t too difficult at all pretty much just hooked up the drain to it and that was it. But at some point I definitely want to get some PVC and re route the emergency overflow into that same chamber as now I’ve got a whole back chamber of the sump that’s just stagnant.

Really happy with the Bubble Magus Curve 7 Elite, doing a great job skimming even tho I have it a bit more wet than I’d like but I have to empty this cup maybe every 4-5 days. At this level. Stuff smells putrid. Glad it’s being removed from my water column 😄

Got some wrasse today from ReefBeautys acclimating them now and plan to add a dose of Dr Tim’s first defense for a little stress relief (idk if it works but it makes me feel like it does).. there’s a possum wrasse and a firefish meant for my 25g that I’ll setup tonight but I’m taking the risk of not being able to catch them in this tank as I don’t think they’d be too happy in my 7”x7” acclimation box aka fish prison.
