Does your tank take a back seat in the summer for other hobbies? I know when summer comes my tank doesn't take a back seat as far as maintenance (mostly auto) but I really don't get much as far as frags or livestock. I'm usually tinkering with the cars and going to car shows on the weekends. Can't wait. What is it your waiting for warmer weather to do?
I’m not sure if it will be neglected or not, i started the tank in the fall and am still learning many things. As for this summer, im looking forward to maybe doing more metal detecting and maybe a few bonfires. As for right now not much excitement here in sunny Michigan...

BUURRRR ! Us Folk here iv Florida are big sissy's over cold temps.
Honestly though, I'm retired now so I'm around most days all year. So I think my tanks are maintained ok . But to look at one, it needs more work !

Oh yes, over the weekend. Blades of grass were coated in ice like knives. The dogs hated it, and I can't blame them..

Oh yes. Everything here’s east side was coated in a sheet of ice: trees, cars, the trash can...

Summers in Vermont are short and sweet, although the last few have been really nice.

I become the neglectful reefer during the summer. I wish for this to change this year. I have too many summer hobbies...I'm a neglectful boater too, only got the fishing boat out 3 times in the past couple of years. I have to put money in that as well. I've been doing a lot of landscaping/gardening the last few years. I pickled a lot of cukes and zuchinnis and salsas last year. The wife and I also camp and travel a bit as well.

I replied somewhat... but not by choice... living at the beach the summers are busy season for work for me. Summer brings 7 day work weeks and lots of overtime money that gets put right into the tank. So water changes don’t get done as regularly or I ask the wife to help out. But in the end the tank gets a new high end coral and some equipment upgrades due to the extra overtime.

I'm not a fan of the hot summer days so it usually makes me a homebody, so my tank gets more attention during the summer. Now when football season starts it's another story.

I'm in Michigan, so summer is short. New stuff for the tank takes a back seat, but normal maintenance actually gets a little better. I usually have a little more free time during the week, so on the weekend I can fish, camp, and grill.

Unfortunately, our recent accident has caused a little neglect and it's starting to show.

Tank maintenance is like dong the dishes, taking out the trash, or taking care of the garden and house plants. This is stuff I do without even putting much thought in to it. Plenty of time to have fun outdoors and do other things and keep up the house.

Summer is my busy season working 7 days a week and looong days (3:30 am till 6-7 pm). I run a charter fishing boat here in the SF bay area ( www.riptide.net ).
I am in the process of building a 120 gal reef tank that I will utilize all the automated systems to help with my work schedule. This will be my first Big tank. I have had tanks (mostly fresh water) for over 55 years. Salt for about 10.
So I'm still playing with fish all day.
and when i take a day off it's to go scuba diving.
I will make a build page for the new tank and will need lots of help with the electronics.
So I look forward to bringing you that.

Fish is theme for me - fly fishing now, then spin casting all summer long for water will bite. My home fish still get taken care of - its H20 all year long.
