I have a crashed helicopter that my son wanted. It used to be covered in montipora, but that died during Irma so I've placed some bizzaro cyphastrea on it which I just starting to encrust again
Pic or it never happened. Lol

I love decor and I get really snarky when someone acts like saltwater tanks are too cool for corny decor. The quirkier the better I say!

2 skulls in my 20g peacock mantis aquarium. Nothing interesting growing on them other than algae. If I move her to the 45g maybe I'll buy more skulls and possibly a bridge. If I end up making it a predator tank, I will DEFINITELY put in more skulls. I've thought about getting a miniature skeleton and have it half buried in the sand.

A "roman coliseum" type decor in my 55g. I love it and will eventually add more.

Quartz is a man made stone and i would totally feel safe putting that in my tank

Quartz is NOT man made. It's one of the most widespread minerals on the planet. (I'm a rockhound have been collecting for over 50 years)

http://www.galleries.com/Quartz

https://www.mindat.org/min-3337.html
"Quartz is one of the most common minerals found in the Earth's crust. If pure, quartz forms colorless, transparent and very hard crystals with a glass-like luster. A significant component of many igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks, this natural form of silicon dioxide is found in an impressive range of varieties and colours."

Not to get too off topic here, but is there any risk putting metal cans, aluminum, etc into a reef tank? I imagine they corrode/break down pretty quickly in saltwater. Can this release anything unwanted into the water?

That can which I found in the ocean was coated with fiberglass resin inside and out.

I prefer the natural look but when your wife says you can upgrade from a 4' to a 6' if she gets to put a sunken ship in the tank..... then you put a sunken ship in the tank!
