Simple question today - how often do you have to change your DI Resin. Many factors can dictate how quickly you have to change it, so feel free to discuss your situation. Others may have suggestions on how to possibly extend its life.

I had a 75 GPD kit, and upgraded to the BRS 150 water saver kit, and now i'm going through DI resin pretty quickly. So much so that I added a second di canister. So now i have a 7 stage? Sediment, two carbon blocks, two 75gpd membranes and two di canisters.

I was so scared to move to a well and change my DI every week. Turns out once a year on my well works out fine (out of the tap TDS is approximately 55). I changed it on January 1st just to make it easier to keep track but I was still getting 0tds after DI. I use the colour changing resign but of course check the tds with an in line as well. I make about 25-30 gallons of RO/DI a week. This year I am making slightly more then last so it's possible it won't last an entire year. When I had city water of approximately 175 tds I'd change it every 6-8 weeks with similar water needs.

Way more often that I want...

On a well at ~700-800 at the tap. Likely high in CO2 but I need to run more tests to verify.

I only get 120g or so per catridge and that is using two in sequence (the one that ran out, but still removing all but 1-2 TDS) and the new one after it. I try to use as much of it as possible!

189 ppm TDS from the tap, about 6ppm TDS after RO membrane. I upgraded to single bed resins in 10/2017 (Cation > Anion > Mixed bed w/ Cation Color Change). The cation and mixed bed resin have almost no color change at all. The anion is about 2/3 depleted. In another few months I may have to replace the anion resin. But I suspect the cation and mixed bed will last a very long time at this rate.

Change it out when the TDS meter reads 1.

We have new construction in the area and was smoking thru DI resin like crazy ;Wacky

Gave this one micron sediment filter a shot and it has made a difference, but still not the same (longevity) as before the new construction started.

I installed BRS' 75GPD kit with the 150GPD upgrade kit in January 2017 (15 months ago) and am still seeing zero TDS on the inline meter o_O. This had me believing that the resin lasts for a long time until I read some of these posts. What gives?

With TDS of 14 out of the tap... Not very often. lol

Same. But I am usually 10 out of the tap. I have not changed it in about 13 months now, not fully sure it's even necessary as I am getting 0 before the water even hits the DI and the DI doesn't seem to change color much....

about a every 100g my water going in from my well ranges from 290-450! A tip for you well guys with high tds, run the sink or whatever is down stream of ro for 1-2 min. and you'll see a drop in tds. If i do this it drops 50-100 tds.

I get about 150 gal out of my Anion Canister before it needs changed but the cation and mixed bed after it last over a year no problem. I'm on a well so the co2 chews it up pretty quick. My tds off the membrane is usually only 2.

I have well water. and believe it or not I purchased my BRS 4 stage ro/di on AUGUST 19, 2012. I have yet to change any cartridges. My TDS meter is still reading zero on input and output. I have changed the batteries in the tds meter though. But I have been thinking about replacing the di resin and the others due to it has been so long.
