Hi all,
I have a hippo tang that has randomly appeared with pop eye today. This was not present yesterday and appears to be only on one eye. Apologies for the dirty glass in the photos/video:
I will say this fish is a chronic bafoon and is frequently jamming itself in the smallest tightest spots possible. I am thinking this is likely some degree of self inflicted injury. My worry is any attempts to catch him for treatment may injure and stress him more
To be complete my levels are :
Ammonia/nitrite : 0
Salenity - 34 ppt
Alk - 8.5
Nitrate ~ 15
Tank - reefer 1000 (250ish gallons)
Stocking:
Magnificent foxface (tank boss)
Flame angel (sub boss)
Hippo tang
Pyramid butterfly x 3
Leopard wrasse x 2
Lyretail x 7
Clown x 2
Mcorskers flasher wrasse
Long nose hawk
This fish has been with me for 2ish years and I have “cured” or managed ich on him in the past. I do plan to replace my UV bulb/sheild tomorrow with my water change proactively.
I am also ordering more selcon and Zoe to add to his food. He doesn’t seem to be having too much trouble getting to food or eating. I do feed 3 times per day
My question for the group is, what else can or should I do? I will post updates here in the coming weeks for future people who have a similar issue
Thanks
Willis
