I just ordered my TANK!!!!

36x24x22, with a starphire front panel. I decided to build a stand, will probably be a steel frame stand finished with a "Brushed Aluminum" look. That is one really important thing off the checklist!

Also tagging along. Just started a small tank (38g) but want to do something much bigger next year. I have a feeling I can learn seeing your build come along.

Sweet man I am excited about this and your new pics!

Thanks Rev! I paid for most of the tank yesterday, I am hoping it will be here yesterday. ;) Andy at Reef Paradise in Flint, MI really hooked me up with a good deal on the tank.

Tagging alone :)

I'll try not to disappoint!

I am going to try and document as much of the build as I can, starting with replacing a broken side panel on my sump soon.

That old tank looks sweet, do you still have that huge green cap? Love it!

Thanks! Technically, I do still have it. :( Bleached in a bucket in the basement, all dried up. That tank crashed and I lost a LOT, then sold the rest to the LFS I was working at.

Very inspiring build! Those montis are gorgeous!

Good luck with the contest!

Thank you! Lighting is next on the list, I can use all the help I can get on lighting.

Fellow Michigander - Loved your tank and it was one of the main reasons why I went with black sand in my 320. Following along.

Thank you! The new tank will have the same sand as the 90, just less of it. I am going with a Shallow bed this time around, less then 2".

[...]Does anyone know/tried to use a router to cut the fins on a Heatsink USA blank to allow a fan to be "sunk" into the fins?[...]
Did you ever find an answer to this?

Personally, I used a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade to cut some fins. It took awhile, was frustrating (especially the vertical cut), and didn't come out very clean, but it worked. A machine shop would probably use a milling machine and be done in less than 30 minutes.

Thanks all for the comments!

No, I did not get a good answer for that question. A jigsaw sounds like it would be a real pain in the butt.... Machine shop sounds like a great idea, I was also thinking of taking an 1/8 off the flat surface, leaving a 1/2" border around the edge to make for a cleaner neater appearance.
