Just got home from work and seen my toxic green splatter hammer coated like this, is this brown jelly? I've removed it from the tank completely and siphoned everything around it. How can I prevent this from happening to my other corals?

Sorry to see this!

The R2R #reefsquad may be able to help.

@VintageReefer I believe you've dealt with this kind of thing before maybe?

Good luck!

When you took it out did it smell like the worst thing that you ever smelled? I learned the hard way a few years ago when I lost all my torches, Frogspawn and hammers when I came home from vacation. I always keep cipro on hand, save my lps a couple times over the years.

Smelled bad but not the worst thing. Any recommendations on what cipro to use and methodology?

The tank looks relatively new. How long has it been setup? What are your parameters?
You can also do a dip in 50/50 peroxide and tank water. Pull some tank water out in a small container, add approximately the same amount of peroxide. Hold the torch by the base and swish it around gently.

I got it from TheFishAid but the last visit to the vet with my dog I asked if he would prescribe it for my tank and explained why. When I went to pay they had it ready. Even though I asked about it for the future and I already had it but bought it,

I had brown jelly take out a good portion of my lps corals awhile back. It sucked big time. Keeping Cipro on hand is wise.

Agreed, anyone with torches and euphyllia should have some!
