I’ve been lurking in the crevices of this forum for years like my namesake Wetmorella, and finally decided to venture out amongst the more colorful fish. I’ve kept saltwater aquariums for 53 years, starting with undergravel filters and Robert PL Straughan’s book for guidance. Mostly small species tanks for unusual creatures like octopus, morays, seahorses and pipefish and anglerfish. Keeping coral alive in 1970 was a distant dream. Herbert Axelrod was my Dad’s 2nd cousin and I remember eating blueberry pancakes with him as he recounted tales of the Amazon. Little known trivia: Dr. Axelrod’s PhD was in Mathematics. I was a diving instructor every summer when young and saw many of our favorites swimming over their native reefs in both the Caribbean and Polynesia. I retired in 2020 and started my first full size reef tank— a RS 425. So much has changed.

I look forward to learning more about the equipment and husbandry of our creatures.
