I have NEVER been able to keep a PBT alive. I’ve probably tried like 3 times and have just given up, and I have several other tanks in a 450 gal that I’ve had for 5-7 years. Beautiful fish, though.

also, the PBT is significantly more susceptible to ich than other tangs, so make sure you have NO ich in your tank, not even a spot, because the PBT can quickly become infected and deteriorate, no matter what quarantine regimen you use.

I know they are tricky fish but I'm willing to put the effort in and hopefully it will pay off

It's just going into the QT he still looks a bit pale from transport but will post another picture a bit later on

This will be my first powder blue. it ate in the shop and is picking at nori,
I'll give it a FW dip in a few days once it's a little more settled then put it in a tremazol bath and onto CP treatment will probably leave it in a QT for a few weeks after just to make sure
I was going to run a UV on the tank but wasn't sure if that would subdue and parasites

I would not take the risk unless your rearranging the rock work. The purple Tang is dominate. The powder Blue is going to be chased forever.

It used to be the purple who was boss until the scopas decided it wanted to be king,
I'll probably remove one of the current tangs for a week when I introduce the PB
A mix between the mirror trick and removal of one should work?

Could be going downhill already.

It doesn't appear to be eating anymore, swims at the food sniffs it swims off
All the food I'm feeding I'd garlic based mysis, brine

I was going to get him into a tremazol bath today

Ah ok,
I've got some nori in the tank
I'm wondering if he just doesn't like my big old head staring into the tank?

Well I'm a week in and he is still alive, I've tremazol bathed him today. is now back in observation.
He is still very picky eater will sometimes eat and spit back out, but does eat. I'm guessing it's because of his mouth size ?
All in all I'm happy so far

I'm Not sure if I have a problem any help would be greatly appreciated

So since I've had him he hasn't eaten much
the past 2-3 days he has got better but still isn't going for food the way I'd like

He looks bloated/swollen or he is getting very fin
He is pooping normally so I don't think anything is trapped?

If its just him getting fin then hopefully now he is eating more I can fix that
If anyone can tell me what they think please would be helpful

Added PBT and no issues with 17 other tangs. The yellows were jerks a few hours and occasionally my sailfin tang annoyed it but stopped in a day or two

He grazes on nori but not as much as he needs to be
I am feeding spirulina brine, garlic mysis and spinach
He just doesn't seem that interested
That and the swollen belly is worrying
He does seem a lot more active over the past few days so maybe he is still settling in
