Power heads

Just added a new power head and was wondering if I am supposed to run them 24/7 or do some shut them down at night. Ive been running them all the time, just wondering if it was necessary,

Most people run them 24/7 but others reduce flow at night by putting them on a timer. It is a common misconception that this mimics nature. In reality, the current is just as strong or stronger during night time. As long as you don't shut them all down, it shouldn't be problematic to do so, but some powerheads don't fare well being started up and shut down repeatedly.
