I’m trying to upgrade some aspects of my tank. What powerhead works well for this tank? Or anything else in this size, I would assume the reefer 170 is about the same. I’m trying to get into SPS and I think I could use some more flow, I run a hydro koralia 240. Or is there anything else in general that would help me grow SPS well on the hardware side

I am going to get an MP10 for mine, but I have no coral in that tank. I currently use a Koralia but no idea what one it is. Just something I took off of a previous tank.

That looks great, I’m going to stick with the prime that’s on my system probably. How do you feel the mp 10’s? Is two rlly necessary?

A Tunze 6040 would fit in there nicely and gives you the option of changing the direction of the flow. The flow deflector can be removed for extra wide flow too. The pump can be mounted horizontally, or vertically. I much prefer it over my the MP10 in my REEFER Nano. Right now I'm not using either, just a Random Flow Generator and Tunze 1073.050 return pump. It's plenty of flow and nice not to have any powerheads in such a small tank.

Sometimes I feel like they arent enough I only run them at 50% but for about 10 minutes I run them both at 70% constant speed to lift detritus. I love them. I would love to have a third one for more controllability

Are these the QD ones? I don’t really know which ones have certain features

What don’t you like about your mp10?

Don't get me wrong, it's a great powerhead, but it only has one direction, straight ahead. The Tunze is much more adjustable when it comes to direction, and in such a small tank that's very important to me, as getting the flow right in smaller cube-like tanks can be tricky. Plus the Tunze comes with Roger, best customer service in the industry... by a mile!

I like mp 10 just because I dont have a wire sharing my beautiful landscape.
And I can place almost anywhere and can be controlled

So it seems the mp10’s are a common answer, are the ES versions worth buying or just get the QD? I’d rather get the cheaper of the version

Older thread... I'm trying to figure out flow for my max nano peninsula. I've got a gyre and a MP10 right now and I'm thinking about adding another. Wish the mp10s could be submersed. Eventually will be SPS dominant, but I've got time to figure out the flow.
