Fighting cyano. Should I add more power heads tilted towards sand bed? Currently on the left side of the aquarium I have a voyager nano 1000 stream pump. On the right side panel I have a light wave maker by Hygger set at a randomize pulse. When I’ve tried aiming these pumps to hit the bottom it’s creating a sandstorm.

I’ve done water changes once a week about a 20% water change. Tried lowering the light from 12 hours to eight hours to six hours. And I seemingly ditch the cyano. Thinking it’s flow.

flow on the sand bed is always good, since it helps lift detritus and uneaten food up into the water column also and hopefully heads it towards your filtration. It can take time for your tank to beat the cyano, steady water parameters go a long way. I delt with this myself on my DT, and since starting a nano tank will deal with it again. Patience with steady maintenance will help you along. I lost quite a few corals in my DT due to my battels with dinos and cyano. I this point I would recommend anyone starting a tank to wait before adding corals (my 2 cents) until your tank stabilizes and matures, this will help cut down on coral losses
