Powerhead suggestions

I have a 40 gallon breeder I am setting up and I can't figure out which poweheads I should go with. I have looked at a few just unsure what to get. I'm planning to do fish with softies and lps only in the tank. Any and all suggestions are appreciated and welcome.

I really like the Tunze power heads myself. Several different companies make the magnets, so I will suggest to make sure you get a good brand but with magnetic attachment. I say this because I have had the ones with suction cups, and many times I have come home to them having released and had blown sand EVERYWHERE! I will never have another one with suction cups.

I have a pair of gyres in my 40 breeder, its overkill but I like they way they produce flow compared to a powerhead and I like the ability to control the flow style and intensity.

It really depends what you want, there is everything in between a $60 powerhead and $600 pair of gyres/wave engine.

I am a fan of gyre style pumps as well, though there's absolutely nothing wrong with tunze.

I like my Tunze 6040s I have them on a 20 long one on each end now but also used them on a 40 breeder that I had setup while I was resetting the display tank.

A pair of Tunze 6040's (hub edition) or a single 6075 would work. The 6040's will allow you to lower them a little and with their flow director (cap) the flow pushes upward slightly and out. I have a pair on my son's IM 50 lagoon. I've been running them for 10 years now and they're still going strong. Stick them in the back corners and enjoy your tank. For the budget friendly reefer, then look into Jebao's, there are a variety to choose from.
