Thinking of pulling out my roller filter for a while so i stop using so much of the roll. The dinos are causing me to go through it at an alarming rate. I put in a new roller 2 weeks ago and its almost used up already.
Any suggestions for adding nitrates would be appreciated.
Now that we've got that cleared up, there are a couple of products you can use to raise nitrates. One is ESV Nitrate and another is NeoNitro. Another, less expensive, way is to mix and add your own using potassium nitrate.

You can also increase feeding.

However, if you're going to pull the roller filter, I wouldn't change anything until a little time passes to see the effect.

Definitely will be pulling it for at least a few weeks and seeing if theres any progress. Will head to to the lfs tomorrow and see if they have either esv nitrate or neonitro. Im sure if not there may be some form of local varient to try.

Your tank looks great. And you probably know those ugly phases you have to endure. As for your nitrates, I don’t know what you are feeding or dosing from your posts…. -.-;

But as far as I can see, whatever you are doing is working. Nothing is dying.

Your roller mat, I would keep it going but slow down your return pump to prolong the use. If you do take it out, I like the disposable filter media in a basket. Ideally, I would increase your feeding knowing your filtration can keep up. I would get some CUC including urchin and goby that shifts sand (I wish I got them sooner), etc.

I feed vitalis pellets and frozen brine shimp at the moment focusing on the pellets more than the frozen at the moment.

I really want to get a small urchin and i have a watchman goby shrimp pair on order as well as a rainfords goby which hopefully will help with algae. I do love my tank and i think it looks great just not loving the snotty stringy dinos getting caught in my corals.
As for quantaties i feed a small amout of pellets about 3 times daily, and about 1/4 a cube of frozen brine. I feel like im underfeeding being paranoid of over feeding 😕

Same here. I got in the hobby when ULNS was a thing and it’s really hard to get out of thinking that way. -.-;

I only feed frozen. I mix 4 different types of frozen (But about 5cubes because I put extra mysis.) Usually Mysis shrimp, oysters or clam, some zoo&phyto, some egg etc. I use all the juice from the source as well.

Consider changing the brine to mysis. More dense nutrients. I am under impression brine is like a snack. So I stop using them.

New wave maker and camera filters arived today, got a lot of playing around with settings to do over the next few days.

Heres a few photos of my corals, everything is looking happy except my gold torch which i belive is splitting its polyps.

Has been a concerning week for me. My gold torch has been sulking all week, its been splitting its polyps and now has 3 distinct mouths with the flesh bands seperating between them. Its back to looking glorious right now. Hoping this means im doing something right.

It was probably just putting all its energy toward splitting. When corals add new polyps definitely means conditions are good. Unlike anemones that split because, what the hey, might as well split is the attitude they seem to have.. 🤣

Talking about anenomes what do you think about them ? Would it be a detriment to the tank to add one ?

I. Like them but I’m not going to get one for this tank. If I had a larger one (tank) I’d consider again. I had a 30 long that had a couple in it and they hung out on one side of the tank. Cubes are more problematic. If you risk it I’d try to find a way to cajole it to stay in one area by using an anemone cup or similar. Rock Flower anemone is an option . Smaller and colorful. Hang on the sand mostly and not very aggressive.

Have had a couple of west australian rock flower anenomes in the past they stayed put and never moved, never split either. They came in on some live rock i got back in the early 20teens. I miss my old tank.

Same. No way I’m fitting a 90 right now though . I’d love to have at least 35-40 gallon tank again.

Nice little tank. I've had my Biocube 29 for a little over 2 years, and they fill up so fast. I'm ready to upgrade to keep getting more fun corals.

Not sure how your dino issue has been, but when I was facing that, I added a Coralife Turbo Twist 3x UV sterilizer. I know the all in ones are supposed to be all inclusive, but I hung it on the back of my cabinet and plumber my return line out through it.

I also used Seachem's Flourish Phosphorus and Flourish Nitrogen to dose my levels. I was a geek and made a spreadsheet with a formula that told me exactly how many mL to dose when I put in the reading to get to the "recommended reef levels."

Dinos have disappeared, i pulled my filter roller for a week and let my nitrates and phosphates become readable levels while dosing some silicates. They disappeared as fast as they showed up. I put my filter roller back in and its maintaining my levels now.

I love this little tank. Brings me so much joy, love watching my corals grow and my fish living among them.

I would add rock flowers in the sand bed, but a BTA would likely wreak havoc in that tank. I keep (kept) my BTAs on their own rock island with loads of knobby outcroppings/holes for their feet.

I think youre right, i wouldnt want one wandering around my tank and killing a bunch of my corals.
