I see people say that a pre drilled (or drilling a tank) is better that a over flow box. True / False? Why?

For a pre drilled tank, is it better to have drilled in back of tank or bottom? I’ve seen both. Is one better? Why?

The back drilled is better imo. It allows for more space to aquascape inside the tank and makes it a little easier to provide even flow. Then the overflow is outside the tank on the back with the purchase of a ghost overflow like this.
