Given a 12" tall acrylic cylinder, with walls 5/8" thick, how hard would it be to drill two 1/4" holes centered in that 5/8" wall, the entire height of the cylinder?

Top down view, but 2 holes within about an inch of each other.

So tools and technique do exist to accomplish it. That's a start.

Would 3/16" on each side of the hole leave the cylinder still able to hold water, or would 3/4" walls, for 1/4" left on each side of the hole be needed? Assuming a 16" diameter cylinder with roughly 90 lbs of water in it.

Amount of water does not matter only depth and length. Pressure is based on depth and force on glass is its 2d surface.

Anyways. No clue. It most likely will be ok but will be the weakest point in the tank.

What are you trying to do and why?

Just two holes? 1/4 inch? No problem. Line it up. Center punch. Tungsten carbide bit. Done.

You did see the part where he is going from top to bottom with a 12 inch bit not front to back That isn’t a “let me use my harbor freight drill press” situation.
Did not see that. My bad. Different game now. I read it too fast
