Here is my female clownfish who has a mate:

Yeah could be both TBH. If it’s eggs you’ll see a behavioral change like mentioned above. Another change could be chasing/courting the male clown more then usual.

My female gets noticeably large shortly before she lays eggs. She also hangs out under her hammer coral on the rocks and get extremely protective of the area.

Yeah just 5 days ago she was normally sized

She does seem to be picking at a rock in the back

They'll clean off a rock and she'll lay eggs on it. Then the male will take care of the eggs for the next couple weeks while she patrols the perimeter.

Mine is currently doing the same thing for the first time. She picked a spot in front of the duncan that hosts it.
