Not 100% sure because if he has a female nearby that he can see he might inflate his pouch to impress her but if she is out of his line of sight he could be pregnant.

I Will add he looks pregnant and its classic behavior for them to go to a dark area and be extra shy, atleast all of mine do that when they are pregnant.
