I put enough effort in to keep things safe & easy to access. Other than that I don’t care once the doors are closed. I appreciate looking at really clean & organized system, but it’s not important to me on my system.

My entire sump is in the basement - 1 floor below the display tank so was more concerned about functionality and ergonomics.

I like the life support systems to be visually appealing, but it doesn't have to be perfect- definitely not OCD.. but I do like an open stand, as I find the sump area just as interesting as the display tank in many cases

Current setup decided to go for more of a "clean" build. It is nice when everything has a place.

It's still a work in progress cleaning up the last bits but for me, tidy is clean, and clean is stable. For being a 50gal in an apartment, as much as possible is needed to fit in the sump and silence is key. It will certainly evolve more in the coming months and it might get to an OCD level here soon.

I voted ocd. I almost chose a nyos skimmer because it would match my color scheme better. I put a lot of thought into the way that things looked and I'm really happy with how it came out. So far the tank has been very easy to work on and because its neat I usually don't put the removable panels on the stand.

I voted "other", I like stuff to look nice, but far more important is keeping everything healthy. If ugly does that, ugly it is.

There is no room for obsessing because that's all I have and it has to fit everything
For me the most important things are:
- crap must be accessible
- Cables out of the way so I can reach everything
- No AC adapters below the sump's water line.

I had to cram everything under my basement stairs so had to be smart using the space. even figured out how to get a 20 gallon frag tank in there

I really like this. My current build is mostly hidden equipment/sump area under my stairwell. I might have to look into getting a workbench in there.

It's not for everyone but I like color matched equipment. The hobby has so many aspects and to each is own. I like the fish and setting up a clean plumbing arrangement.

How important is it for you to have your equipment and equipment area "look good?" I'm talking neat, clean, as well as gear that is pleasing to look at.
It's VERY important to me, but I don't do it. Just don't have time for it. Would love to have equipment that looks like the picture shared.

I envy people's clean setups. Unfortunately, I get a lot more satisfaction from a DIY approach so try as I might, my sump and equipment under the stand usually look more like the inside of Doc Brown's house from Back to the Future.
