Hello fellow hobbyists!

How are you all doing?

It's been a long time since I've been here, and although I've kept the hobby going with a small 40-liter nano tank, it's time to set up something a bit bigger.

I'll briefly tell you about the idea I have in mind: I want to set up a lightweight, minimalist system with plenty of water and free-floating sand, a branching structure, and some SPS coral colonies.

The idea is to have an aquarium that's "simple" to maintain, without a disproportionate coral-to-water ratio, like I see in too many aquariums or in my small nano tank. This makes maintenance much more difficult.

The aquarium will be set up in the living room of a standard-sized apartment, and one of the most important things for me is that everything has a cohesive aesthetic and flow, so everything will be done with aesthetics in mind, trying to keep the wiring to a minimum.

And if you've read this far, I have to tell you that the entire system will be designed and assembled by me, in the easiest way possible. I'll be showing you all of this on Instagram @Prismareef in a series of videos that I'll be posting so that anyone who wants to can build a quality aquarium and achieve the aesthetic they desire.

In my case, commercial options like Waterbox or Red Sea don't suit what I want, and the aluminum finishes from custom aquarium manufacturers aren't what I'm looking for. There are also options like SeaDreams; it would be great to enjoy that marvel, but I don't think it's within my budget.

The tank will be 120x50x45 cm, with its corresponding sump, and I'll start with the Triton method.

Cheers! See you around!

Hi! Today we've been working on the structure and making some decisions regarding the space.

After taking all the measurements and clearly defining the available space, we now have the exact orders for everything.

In addition, we've decided on the lighting, keeping in mind what best suits the "elongated" aesthetic we're aiming for and with a good cost-efficiency ratio.

The cabinet will be longer for three reasons:

- We think it's more aesthetically pleasing.
- Inside, we'll have an algae refugium suitable for the Triton method.
- Inside, we'll have a frag tank of about 40 liters.

Tank: 120x50x45 cm
Cabinet: 165x50x80 cm
Lighting: ATI Straton Flex 102

The next step was designing the iron structure that will support the entire weight of the setup. Since the cabinet will be much longer than the tank, it was very simple to design: a structure of 40x40mm tubing that extends the entire length of the cabinet, which will later be covered with wooden boards.

The structure's design will be as follows:

And here's the short explanatory reel I made on Instagram! Cheers!
