Prophylactic Antibiotic administration in QT

Does anyone prophylactically treat their fish in QT with antibiotics?

I have 3 fish that have gone through TTM followed by 1 week in QT. (Carpenters wrasse, fathead anthia, psychedelic mandarin).

They received 2 doses of prazipro during TTM.

Plan to QT one more week for observation purposes.

The wrasse has a few minor discolorations on right dorsal, posterior scales, but this seems to be improving and honestly I may be over calling it.

The fathead "sunburst" anthia may have a few areas on pectoral fins which look a little frayed, but again I may be over calling this.

Does anyone prophylactically treat with antibiotics or only treat if there is obvious bacterial infection?

I have furan 2, metroplex, kanaplex and focus on hand.

Personally, I treat with antibiotics only when there is a clear need for it.

+1 You want the antibiotics to work when you need them so using them only when it's needed won't allow a resistance to build up to them.

Your fish look fine. I wouldn't bother treating them with antibiotics right now.

I personally will not dose antibiotics unless I see active signs of an infection. IMO & E; the risk outweighs any potential benefit from their prophylactic use. Antibiotics will deplete oxygen from the water, can cause appetite suppression and other side effects.
