Am I dreaming?! The tank of my dreams? I found this beauty secondhand (and only 3 months old) on FB marketplace and truly couldn’t believe my luck. The tank came with a Nicrew 200 Gen, AI Axis 90 Pumo, AI Nero 3, AI Orbit 4, Simplicity 240 DC Protein Skimmer, Ice Cap Heater and many many more things. I am moving all my inhabitants from my Fluval 32.5 to this beauty. I’m doing a 24 hour water test to qualm my husband but my god is she something! I have even more goodies in the house but I can’t believe my luck.

That’s great!. I would’ve love to hit 30-40 gallons but since I’m living in a shared space at the moment I felt the IM 25 lagoon was a good compromise since it’s in my room. Ultimately someday I’d love to have a set up like this. Just out of curiosity how much of a deal was it? I mean that’s quite the haul….

$660 for everything and I am not showing like half of what I got. I really wanted to get everything including the Hydros dosing system for $1300 but my offer was way too low. Most of the stuff was never even opened and still has the plastic on it. The skimmer itself is brand new.

That looks like the only thing needing replacing and as its new it should be very easy to sell and replace with a smaller size. I thought the jbj 25 tank and stand i bought for 500 was a good deal but you got a steal

The reason he sold it broke my heart

Is the Simplicty 240DC too big for this tank? It’s going to be awhile before I set it up since I do need new sand and I’m being a bit more meticulous with how I set this reef up. The person who had this tank before me did his research just wasn’t able to keep it. I haven’t tested fitted anything just yet as everything needs a good clean.

Trust me when I say I always get a good deal but my Husband was the real MVP because without him I wouldn’t know this tank was on sale on Facebook. I was shocked to find out someone 9 miles away had it!!

I know the feeling . I had a 90 and a nano running but had to give them up cause landlord wanted me out (had an unexpected major expense that put me behind in rent). Had to sell on fairly short notice. Life sometimes sucks, like my entire year last year, but I’m rebounding and just recently purchased a new IM 25 lagoon. Think of it this way, you’re giving this tank a new loving home. I’m sure seller would understand.

He was very “happy” (not really) that I took it home and promised to send him pictures once I have it set up. I felt super bad and he wasn’t there to help me load it so I think he was extra sad he saw his tank go since it was also his dream tank. I hope I can bring it to its full potential and hope to set it up by the end of month. I have to get a few more things for the tank but overall I have 90% of what I need. It will look a lot cleaner in the spot my actual tank is.

Also hope 2026 gets better for you! 2025 was a hectic year so I am hopeful things will be on the up and up.

Big Day! Leak test is still going strong with nothing dripping. Bulkheads looks good and the only major thing I need to do is clean the pump. Luckily the guy gave me a bunch of pump cleaner so it will be a breeze. Waiting for hubby to come home and help me move it in but things are looking on the up and up. He said he will try to get me some sand today and he ordered my a control for the Nicrew 🥰 That being said, I need a lid! I am going to make a makeshift one since I went over my budget this month (too many hobbies), but was looking into Octo Lids for a custom one. After my mishap with a previous company making a custom lid and reading some horror stories others, I need someone who won't make my life a living nightmare. Anyone purchase from them before? I would go with Kraken as well but they no longer do custom and Top Lids seems to be a bit wearisome to purchase from.

I’m really embarrassed but this monstrosity of wire management. I need to have a talk with all these companies who decided that we needed 3ft of wire. I feel like it’s truly a mess. For piece of mind, I thought maybe plexiglass could save any of my wired but who am I kidding I don’t even know how I’ll do a dosing system 🫠 I’m still missing one more thing for my light but I feel like I do t have much space left. I feel like there’s a better way

Redoing the wires this Friday. I truly hate how it looks and worried about the fire risk so getting some channels to clean up the area and run wires on the top of the cabinet to utilize more space

Did a little electrical work and just changed the outlet to a GFCI audible one. Peace of mind.

Moving day! Waiting for my husband to get me coffee before I even start this tank. Wiring took awhile and although I’m not 100% happy with it, it could be worse. I think down the line I’ll build a separate cabinet and make it nice. As of now, this is the best I’ll be able to do. I am hoping in my silly little head that the plexiglass will prevent any saltwater splashes to my outlets. I tested how difficult it would be to remove and rearrange everything and it’s not easy but manageable. Drip loops everywhere. Wire management is not easy when your cabinet is this cramped!!

Congrats on the new tank. Ikea Besta line is a nice way to add controller cabinets for cheap.
I will have to look into those! The take is working and going and I’m trying to figure out how to adjust the skimmer as I am completely new to it. I should’ve rinsed my sand and it’s thrown up a sand storm so I’m hoping filter floss overnight will fix this mess.

Don't worry about your skimmer just yet, because you don't have any waste to skim yet. You can adjust it so it produces air bubbles but very little skimmate just for aeration purposes.

That makes me feel better. Didn’t go to bed till midnight since I was worried about the skimmer. It hasn’t overflowed and I’m following the directions the manufacturer has provided. As of now the tank is clearing up. I need to fix my rockscape I kind of just dumped everything. Looks like all 3 clowns are okay (although territorial once more) but I am missing 1 fish. My favorite 6 line Wrasse is nowhere to be seen 😭
