Hi guys!
I was wondering how often I should be taking off my HOB 1.5 protein skimmer and fully cleaning the entire thing?
I take the collection container off and clean weekly but I feel like my skimmer is throwing a lot more tiny small air bubbles and it hadnt been doing that before..
Not sure what it means and thought those more knowledgeable might have some ideas.
I tried to include a picture for reference.
Thanks!

I drain my collection cup weekly, clean collection cup and lid every other week, clean the pump every 6 months and soak the entire skimmer in citric acid one a year

I clean the collection cup and lid every time I empty it, which is roughly once a week. The body doesn't get cleaned at all unless the pineapple sponge population becomes overwhelming, covering the entire skimmer.

Cup, top and extensions twice a week.
Skimmer and pump run in 5 gallon bucket of vinegar water for 2 days every 3 months.

Thanks everyone. There is definitely something going on with the skimmer… it got unplugged for a second during the water change last night and based off searching on this forum it needs a really good deep clean and vinegar soak.
