As I add more sps it is time to upgrade my current skimmer that is under performing.(Pro-Clear Impact) It is going in a my sump with a skimmer Compartment of 15" X 12 1/2". I had ordered the Reef Octopus Regal 250 but the footprint is a little large. Thinking about the Regal 250SSS but would like thoughts/input on the best options. The tank is stocked fairly heavy and everything is doing very well for now.

I have the Regal myself and prior to that I had the Nyos. I love the DC pump even more than that, I love the increased contact time compared to a space saver. The Regal produces excellent organic rich skimmate and improves over all water quality.

Check prices on the pumps and impellers when you choose one. I have an asm g3 and it’s a great skimmer but the pumps and impellers are expensive.

To that end go with a company with well made and reliable pumps - find reviews on the replacement pumps and that should do it.

My reef octopus has not had any issues so far.

The Reef Octopus Regal is a strong option. I have always had great luck with Reef Octopus skimmers and will be ordering another one soon for a new system.
