Protein skimmer

I have a 30g and I was wondering do I need a potein skimmer or is the filter I have know fine

If you plan on housing corals yes you need a skimmer.

If you can keep up with the water changes to keep the water parameters in check, no, you do not need a skimmer.

No it will not harm your corals, as long as you keep your water parameters stabile.
Gotta watch your Nitrates with this one, keep them under 10, although some LPS, Softies and Zoas are fine with them 15 or under. Watch your phospahtes also.

I had a buddy with a 28gal. all in one, he kept up with the water change every week and that tank was awesome. No skimmer just cheato
