That's not true (unless you mean qt as husbandry). A fish doesn't get sick from velvet or similar because of poor quality water or care. They get sick because they get in contact with it and the disease kills them. It's sorta like saying that Marburg hemorrhaging virus only happens / kills people because they aren't eating a good diet.

We will need to agree to disagree on this one. We have incompatible opinions regarding this particular issue.

Disease preys upon weak and fragile, not the strong and robust.

I generally believe that most fish deaths due to disease (especially mass casualty events) are a symptom of poor husbandry.
You're welcome to think that, and I'm happy to disagree. Doesn't make you or I right on the matter.

If you believe only under fed fish in dirty tanks suffer mass casualty events, you my friend are quite incorrect.

I use NSW and throw anything I can find into my tank from the sea including rocks, algae, amphipods, bricks, mud etc and never have any hitchiker problems.

That’s the world we live in- selling a solution to a problem that probably never existed is the ultimate mouse trap.
As a salesman that understands the feature=benefit=advantage sales presentation model, I now do it in my head with everything and often see through the ‘managed crisis’ sales strategies where they manufacture a crisis in order to ‘fix’ it for you. Politics is the best example.

I voted not the most overblown aspect but close.

here’s why. The whole hitch hiker thing plays into it. I think the idea and pursuit of the “perfect” tank is the biggest issue. And I’m saying this as a newbie.

I initially bought into the sterile start, dry rock train. I listened to brs and believed that following there example was the secret sauce. I thought if I started with the most expensive gear would set me ahead. I didn’t realize the importance of building an ecosystem. I didn’t understand that even some of the things people call pests have a place in the jigsaw of balance. Bristleworms are an example.

so yeah the hitch hiker madness is a big problem but I feels it’s part of the instant gratification, I can have a perfect reef if I do x y z, mindset

This is not a quarantine argument thread.
I mean let's be honest here. If you start a thread with "prove mean wrong" then make a statement you know fully many will not agree with, You have to know it's going to turn into an argument..

I knew where it would go without even opening the thread yet.

This thread is about hitchhikers not fish disease.
