Puffers: Reef Compatibility?

are there any other types of fish that have similar personalities or boldness but are more reef safe?

Not sure about personality but there's a mimic filefish which looks exactly the same as the Valentini but again I think even with those their Reef compatibility is a bit hit and miss!
 
Depends what you mean by reef safe. Do you mean doesn't eat coral. Or doesn't eat clean up crew etc too
 
meaning doesnt eat coral.

flame hawkfish is on the list. or longnose. i had a longnose once and it was great
 
what about flame dwarf angels? are they better odds?
I have had more success with puffers than dwarf angels with corals.

Alot of the blennies also have the big personality. A starry blenny will quickly become a favorite.
 
I have a 5" porcupine puffer in my 300g reef tank. He's my absolute favorite fish. Doesn't bother anything in the tank.
