So I posted a thread when I first got my pulsing Xenia and how it wasn’t doing so well. Now, few days later it’s even worse. The heads are falling off and I’m finding them on the sand. My tank is a 20g innovative marine, it’s been running for about a year, I have a few other corals in there. I also believe one of my anemones when it was cut up, might of messed with the water quality so I did a 20% water change. I’ve got the Xenia on my rock work (1/2) up the tank. My salinity is 1.025 and temp is 80. Thanks for any help!!!

Dirty up the tank, feed heavier. Should fix the problem fairly quickly. Hope the coral lasts long enough for the extra nutrients to bump it back up! If it does, a lot of reefers will spot you another one for pretty cheap. I’m practically giving it away $10 for an entire colony.

Try to move Xenia all the way down to the sand and see if it is happy. I actually made my Xenia closed up and melted from putting it too high up. Thankfully, my Xenia recovered by putting it on the sand and it is a colony now.

Hey if you want a piece and pay shipping for it, it’s only $10. I sell some other stuff too. JF Mohican Suns and WWC cloves. Just pm me if this Xenia doesn’t make it, I cut good deals. Don’t believe in 3 polyp frags either

Maybe run some gac to remove any bad organics.
I've got 2 types of pulsing xenia at the top of my tank, at the waters surface, for 2 years now, 250 par. I did not put them there, they grew there. They are weeds. Some others are at the tank bottom, 50 par.
5 ppm nitrate, 0.1 to 0.3 phosphate.
Either the ex anemone or the leather might be bothering chemically, or as others have said shoot for detectable nutrients.

Yes I attempted to remove some anemones which released some type of slim

Sounds like some chemical warfare going on with the slim and your Xenia. I would be curious to what others think but you may want to consider an iodine dip on them to help them heal. Like many have said the tank could be too clean. What are the iodine levels in the water? Typically of the iodine levels get too low the Xenia will also shrivel up and stop pulsing. Being that you attempted to remove the anemones it’s more likely it was chemical warfare.
