The Mag7 pump that came with my 55g cube/15g sump was running intermittently so I decided to get Jebao based on recommendation. I got DCP-6500 (1710gph) which was an overkill and was causing this flushing effect in the overflow. So I switched it with DCP-3500(925gph), even this one is doing the same unless I have the power down to 30% and the return valve half ways shut. Is Jebao just not compatible with my sump? Should I go for smaller pump? I got replacement parts for Mag7, it is noisy.

I do have a phosban 150, the guy who I bought the aquarium from gave me. Would it be something good to use. Would this 925gph pump be able to handle both?

Not sure what the problem is here?

Turning the pump down is going to increase the longevity of the pump, and closing the valve 30% is also no big deal, it's the entire reason it's there. So either roll with it(I would), or buy a bigger pump(On that note you really don't need a huge turn over rate between the sump and display).

I have to close my siphon valve nearly 80%(oversized plumbing and small pump) to keep it in tune with the return.

I think your overflow is a big bottleneck here.

I have the DCP-3000 on a 14G tank with 10G sump, i do have it dialed down to 30% but the overflow can handle more if i wanted, with the gate valve fairly closed.

what overflow do you have?

It's a durso overflow. With power at 30% and the return valve at 50% it works fine. I guess I can utilize rest of the power for a reactor. Thinking of returning the 6500 and keeping the 3500, makes sense right?
