They're both great pumps. I'm more of a vortech fan myself. No wires in the tank and less of a footprint in the tank. They do however have a history of rusting magnets on the wet side on the 40's

I use 2 230xf’s and 1 mp10 in a 90 gal. It’s a ton of water movement.
