"should you....... would you........... or could you??
That said lets talking about pumps, not just like any kind of pump and if I mention it you would be PUMPED about it.
Lets talk about peristalic pumps in this hobby.
Why do we use them?
For what we use them?
How we use them?
......and what kind of peristalic pump do you use and how is it set up for what you use it for?

These are not the most affordable pumps out there and I have seen some Cole-parmer flow master pumps going for $7K and no it's not a bounce pump
Where do you buy these pumps from as new that would be just crazy :p I think.
I understand that they are Born from Swiss precision and German engineering......... I get that ;)
They are also super precise, repeatable and accurate.
I guess because of that we want only the best for our reef as so much can go wrong with a lot of DIY equipment out there.

That one is pretty snazzy! Lots of options of things to use them for.

Medical grade stuff is far more reliable than the aquarium stuff, gotta pay to play though. Especially if you are buying new.

Most of the Cole Palmer pumps are all continuous duty pumps, which means they are made to run 24/7/365. Buying used is an easy proposition on auction sites like Ebay, but when first looking there are SO many options/pump heads/ different models (that all look the same). It can be a real mind boggling experience.

Peristaltic pumps are amazing in the fact that they work exceptionally well in pressure applications and their accuracy is unrivaled. I only wish I had a few more to play with!

Great topic. I look forward to seeing what some folks are using theirs for.

All the above.
They are great for precision applications like dosing, and they won't back siphon, making them great for ATO.
I've also used the dual head models for daily auto water changes, pumping in new water while its pumping out old water.
