Hello I am upgrading the sump on my existing setup, I am planning on using Christy’s Red hot blue glue I’m wondering how long do I need to wait for the glue to dry before turning the return on. Thanks

Hold peices for at least 30 seconds after twisting and pushing together. 2-3 minutes initial set time and 15 minutes minimum at room temperature before testing with water. Increase 50% in high humidity. These are minimums times in ideal conditions with proper techniques. If you arent in a hurry wait at least an hour. If down time for the sump is an issue glue parts together ahead of time with unions and or threaded ends that can be installed quickly when ready.

I usually give freshly glued pvc joints a hour or so. Not because I've read anything about timelines. Usually I clean all the mess accumulated before turning the pumps back on. Sometimes that can take a hour or more.
I worked around plumbers for 45+ years and have asked them how long to wait. Some say to wait 10 minutes, some a half hour tops.
