Recently made a post worried about my new addition, but he’s doing very well now. He found his underground cave and the feeding training at work has definitely paid off. While I love all of my fish, he has me literally talking to him like he’s a dog, because he acts like one! He pouts by sitting in the corner and avoiding eye contact, he begs for food, and he follows me around when he wants attention. He’s been given the name Atlas and he’s my new best friend. Here’s some cool shots I got of him, including a feeding video:)

20g long would be perfect for a pair! They’re kind of hard to find at LFS lately but I got mine at my LFS shortly after I started working there about a year ago. Another LFS i frequent is in the process of ordering me a female though, so I assume they can get them in if you ask. The only special care they need is for feeding. Start them out in a system with a heavy pod population and maybe even dose more pods monthly to make sure they get enough. However I did get mine on frozen fairly easily, I now feed him mysis with a pipette every other day. Also make sure there are at least a few caves for them to hide in as they do like to take shelter for security during the day. Then at night you’ll see them going wild for the pods.

They are also pretty seasonally collected. Pretty much from late-September to mid-March is when I notice most of them coming into the US.

I have 3 of them and never saw them eat pods but I do feed them live whiteworms that they always eat and earthworms. The earthworms are hard to feed because the fish are so slow that the other fish get the worms much faster than the waspfish, even if I dangle the worm in their face. Like lionfish, they don't need to eat very often. They almost never swim and just kind of lay there pondering the universe. :)
